Ecuadoran Two Escudos Coin (1835). Reproduced from Burton Hobson, Historic Gold Coins of the World, Doubleday, 1971, 123. This Ecuadoran coin was minted in Quito where a mint had been opened in 1833, though Ecuador was still part of Greater Colombia. Ecuador achieved independence in 1836 and altered the inscription to read "Republica Del Ecuador."
